MAGPI K20 User Group November 2010

This multi-state group meets every other month virtually by videoconferencing. The purpose of this MAGPI K20 User Group is to bring together connected organizations across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Kentucky to encourage cross-fertilization of ideas, collaboration opportunities, and resources on the use of MAGPI and Internet2. These meetings are open to any MAGPI member institution and feature guest speakers and resources that we hope will be of interest to you.

Working Agenda for November 2010 Meeting

  • Welcome and Site Introductions
    Please be prepared to introduce yourself and your site.
  • National and International Updates from the Executive Director
    Greg Palmer, Executive Director, MAGPI
    Greg will report on his recent conversations with PAIUnet, the statewide, high speed network connecting IUs and K12 districts designed to foster collaboration and communication and to share resources. Greg will also discuss the recent changes made by the FCC to the E-Rate guidelines and the impact these new rules have on eligible services and institutions.
  • New Multimedia Services
    Michael Knight, Manager of Multimedia Services, MAGPI
    Michael has exciting news to share about MAGPIs recent acquisition of PolyCom’s CMA product. He will demo how easy it is for MAGPI members to use these desktop VC licenses. Michael will also discuss MAGPI’s strategy for a video library solution.
  • K12/Higher Education Partnership for Education and Telehealth in a Rural Georgia School District
    Dr. Joseph Barrow, Superintendent of Ware County Schools
    Dr. Joseph Barrow, Superintendent of Ware County Schools, will discuss the K12/higher education partnership for education and telehealth in a rural Georgia school district.
  • Interdisciplinary Music Programs
    Greg Howe, Director of Distance Learning, Cleveland Institute of Music
    Greg Howe, Director of Distance Learning at the Cleveland Institue of Music will present their latest interdisciplinary music programs for K20.
  • Educational Services
    Heather Weisse Walsh, Manager of Educational Services, MAGPI and Marilyn Puchalski, Faculty Development Coordinator, MAGPI
    Heather will report on several new events planned for the higher education community and the recent Internet2 members meeting, in particular what's new with the K20 Initiative and Teaching and Learning SIG. Marilyn will announce the Call for Proposals for the 2011 MAGPI Fellows grants.
