Preferred Content Provider Description:

Located in Sarasota Florida, Mote Aquarium participated in distance learning demonstrations as early as 1994, allowing students at sites as far away as England to drive a Remotely Operated Vehicle in Mote's shark tank. In 1996, Mote Aquarium began its own distance learning program using videoconference technology. This program became known as SeaTrek. Fourteen programs are currently offered, ranging from K-3 "Sea Me Read" programs to middle and high school programs on sharks, manatees, sea turtles, coral reefs and dolphins. Videoconferencing Best Practices and an overview program for teachers are also offered. Each program is supported by a free, downloadable, companion curriculum, aligned with national and Sunshine State Science Education Standards.
